History
Airline
Technical Services Pty Ltd (ATS) is the sister company of
Aeronautical Engineers Australia (AEA) and was formed in 1997 to
focus on assisting regional airlines throughout Australia, South
East Asia and the Pacific. Many regional airlines are finding that the maintenance of an in-house
engineering office is not an efficient use of funds. In-house staff
levels sized to suit peak demand result in excessive manpower when
times are quiet. Nevertheless, airlines conducting RPT operations
require the rapid response to company priorities that has typically
only been available from in-house staff. ATS offers a service with
the response times of in-house staff, but without the overhead when
peak staff levels are not required. ATS support can be provided
either during regular scheduled visits, or on-demand. ATS prides
itself on surprising customers with our rapid response times. ATS has over 30 years of experience the design and approval of repairs and modifications
for transport category aircraft. Under our Instrument
of Appointment No. AEB 08/037, we can ensure that the mod or repair is designed and approved
to meet strict airline and regulatory requirements. Our instrument covers all areas of aircraft
design, from structures and mechanical systems, to avionics and powerplant, under CAR35/36 and 36A. For airlines that have decided that an in-house engineering office is
not warranted, ATS is happy to offer the complete service of liaison
with shop-floor staff, liaison with the manufacturer or CASA if
necessary, preparation of documentation, and final approval. Documents
can be prepared either under the airline letterhead and document system,
or using the ATS document system. Regional airlines may have the ultimate aim of setting up an in-house
engineering office when the fleet size becomes sufficient. In such
cases, ATS is able to provide all initial engineering support and can
then train in-house staff over a period of time. We can develop the
systems and procedures appropriate to the needs of the airline, and
develop in-house technical staff to the point where an internal
engineering office becomes a reality. Company priorities may sometimes overwhelm the capabilities of existing
internal engineering staff. ATS has experience in supplying engineering
assistance to meet these short-term needs, and has sufficient staff
and experience to meet the most demanding deadlines. ATS can provide weight and balance services including periodic and
unscheduled reweighs, revalidation of weight and balance documents,
and loading systems to individual requirements. More Info As a CASA approved weight control authority ATS can design, approve and implement loading systems for a wide range or fixed wing and rotary aircraft. ATS can provide prompt burn testing of aircraft furnishings and composite materials to FAR standards. More Info At times, performance information presented in the aircraft flight
manual may be overly conservative, and may as a result restrict
aircraft operations. An example of this is the manufacturer's common
practice of generating unpaved performance data from the paved performance
data using conservative assumptions, without flight testing the
unpaved performance. The resulting take-off and landing distances
can sometimes be conservative by up to 15%. In such cases, ATS is
able to measure actual aircraft performance and generate realistic
performance data for the aircraft type. |
